About Broadmeadow

Broadmeadow Special School is a welcoming and inclusive special school serving children aged 3 to 11 years in Wolverhampton. Our pupils have been identified through statutory assessment as requiring special educational provision, and we are committed to ensuring every child receives the support, encouragement and opportunities they need to thrive.

At Broadmeadow, our vision is simple: Together we enable and motivate. We provide high-quality teaching, specialist support and enriching experiences within a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment. Our dedicated staff work closely with families and external professionals to help every child achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.

The school currently offers a wide range of specialist facilities, including sensory learning environments, Rebound Therapy provision, sensory gyms, a Forest School area, interactive learning technology and accessible outdoor spaces. These resources support our personalised approach to learning and help us meet the diverse needs of our pupils.

Our commitment to excellence has been recognised through successive Ofsted inspections. During the school’s latest inspection in June 2024, inspectors noted:

“Broadmeadow Special School is warm and welcoming to everyone. Pupils are well cared for and staff go the extra mile to make pupils feel safe and happy. This embodies the school’s mission that ‘together we enable and motivate’.” [About Broa…ial School]

Looking to the Future

Broadmeadow is entering an exciting new chapter in its development. The school is currently planning for a move to a brand-new purpose-built school on the in Pendeford, scheduled to open in September 2028.

The new building represents a significant investment in the future of special education in Wolverhampton and will provide enhanced facilities designed specifically to meet the needs of our pupils both now and in the years ahead. The development aims to create a modern, accessible and inspiring learning environment that supports innovation in teaching, wellbeing and therapeutic provision.

The new school will offer:

  • Purpose-built classrooms designed for specialist learning.
  • Enhanced sensory and therapeutic spaces.
  • Improved outdoor learning and play environments.
  • Greater capacity to meet increasing demand for specialist school places.
  • Modern facilities that promote independence, communication and inclusion.
  • Flexible learning spaces that support a broad and engaging curriculum.

While our location will change, our values, ethos and commitment to our children and families will remain the same. Broadmeadow will continue to be a place where every pupil is valued, supported and encouraged to succeed.

The move to Pendeford marks an exciting opportunity to build on our strengths and create an outstanding learning environment for future generations of Broadmeadow pupils.
