Coffee Morning
What a wonderful turn out for our coffee morning today! Big thanks to Rachel who brought a vast array of fidget toys to sell at a reasonable price, and to Claire Hunt from the carers support team. It was lovely to see parents connecting, forming new friendships and sharing ideas. We look forward to welcoming you all to our next coffee morning in the new year, details to follow!

Our visit from ‘the bikers’ @Wolfruna Chapter earlier this week was great fun. Many children enjoyed the experience of sitting on and exploring some beautiful Harley Davidsons.

Supporting our Children during Christmas.
- Opt for warm steady lights and create a quiet space with ear defenders.
- Use visual schedules, now/next boards or objects of reference to outline the day.
- Decorate slowly over a few days to allow the environment to change in manageable stages.
- Use social stories to help children understand what to expect at gatherings/outings etc.
- Ensure each day includes quiet activities or breaks from stimulation.
- Plan gift exchanges carefully. Lots of presents can be overwhelming, introduce presents in small amounts or one at a time. If your child cannot tolerate wrapping paper, don’t wrap them up: Just do small amounts/one present at a time steadily throughout the day.
- Let your child eat their safe foods for their dinner. Christmas is not a time to introduce newfoods. Use their usual plate/cup that they are used to.
- Keep children in clothes they are comfortable in. Try new clothes out before the day, to see if they can be tolerated.
These strategies can help create a more enjoyable and manageable Christmas for autistic children, allowing them to celebrate the holiday season in a way that suits their needs.
