Mental Health Resource – Ripple
We are raising awareness of a free mental health and suicide prevention resource from a charity called Ripple which is available as an additional layer of protection and support for you to download immediately.
Ripple which is a unique browser extension that intercepts searches for harmful material online, and instead directs users to mental health resources. If a user searches for harmful content online, they will first be guided through a filter of breathing exercises and then very simple, uncluttered and calmly presented strategies and forums. There are also helplines and mental health services they can access both now and longer-term: accompanied with messages of hope and encouragement to keep them safe.
It works by downloading (free to use) and then uses an interceptive tool designed to present a visual prompt when a person searches for harmful keywords or phrases relating to the topic of self-harm or suicide. These phrases include any words or terminology which have been identified as displaying potentially damaging online content.
